Kiss the Negative Vibes Goodbye!

Sometimes you need to take a moment to cleanse the negative energy from your life by introducing sage smudging to your home and or workspace. Interestingly it is not only your spirits which will be lifted as in a 2007 study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacol  the burning of sage (aka sage smudging) was linked to the reduction of airborne bacteria which means that sage smudging can result in a fresh start in more ways than one. 

How to Burn Sage

Light the bundle of herbs and when a flame appears, blow it out so it will smoulder and smoke. The idea is to create curls of smoke and not to set the bundle alight. Smudge sticks are sometimes hard to keep smouldering so, when you first light the stick, blow out the flame after it gets going and then blow into the smouldering embers to really let the heat take hold. If the embers burn out just re-light the bundle again.

You may wish to focus on burning the sage in and around areas where you feel there are blockages or where there is physical and or emotional pain. Visualise the wisps of smoke carrying away negative energy and thoughts. The burning of sage will leave the air with a pungent clean fragrance.

  • DO NOT burn while infants, pregnant women or people with respiratory issues are in the room. 
  • DO NOT leave the sage smoking unattended and please keep out of reach of small children.
